Phoolan Devi - the "Bandit Queen of India" in the early 1980's.
Phoolan Devi is the "Bandit Queen of India" in the early 1980's. An Indian dacoit (bandit) and later a politician. After being gang-raped by some members of her village, Phoolan Devi turned bandit, and authorised the killing of 22 upper-caste villagers in 1981. Following this, she became notorious across India as a bandit.
